Hi, everyone! This is Shannon (using Alex's account), posting a <gasp!> song. The tune is mine, so I don't think you'll be able to sing it unless you know me and can go after me with an axe, but I go to lots of Cons, and the occasional LAFA, so if you **really** need to know, then I can sing it for you live. Kay? Oh, one more minor note. The events this song is based on took place on Mt. Diablo, California, and are entirely the fault of a wonderful woman named Rhanda. Star Party The night was dark and full of stars when they came onto me And said, 'come to the mountain, come and join the star party. Come out to the mountain, where we sing of sky and stars, And of the gates of heaven, which one day will be ours.' I went out to the mountain, and I sat under the sky, All those who had shared my dreams then raised their voices high. We sang that night of moons and stars, and outbound planet-trails, Of spacer deaths and stars reborn, and ships with solar sails. Chorus: Come out to the mountain, come see what you can see. Come out to the mountain, come and join the star party. The fire we built burned like a star atop the mountain dark, We shared all of our fantasies, we sang all of our hearts. There upon the mountain we sang man's rise and fall. And of the truth of time and change, that win out over all. We sat there on the mountain, and we sang of those who died, Trying to reach heaven's gate, and why they had to try. We sang that night of stars and flame, and of the pheonix fair, And why we have to see the castles standing in the air. Chorus. Now when the nights grow dark and my hope starts to die I gather up my books and friends, and we reach for the sky. We go up to the mountain and we sit upon the earth. And sing until the sun comes up of time, death and rebirth. If you would learn the ways of stars, then come onto me. Come up to the mountain, come and join the star party. Come up to the mountain where we sing of sky and stars, And of the gates of heaven, that one day will be ours. Chorus. rep. twice
