filk etiquette
Hello - this is from Kim, Lea and Angel (obviously using Angel's account,
Kim's computer, and Lea has been downloading all the previous discussion
- true group effort here! :) )
Great topic - has needed some expansion for a while.
Here are some of our thoughts:
1. John did a great job (as usual) of summing things up.
2. Kudos to Chuck and Maura for having the guts to be willing to run filk
at an upcoming con.
3. Re: Julia's "rants" -
- Every filk being a half Steve concert - this is because we
keep requesting him to sing. (I'm especially guilty of saying "Steve sing
me a song" many times during a filk. - Kim
- As for wishing people would share the words - at Portland cons
there are many of us who spend large chunks of filks with our notebooks
in the hands of total strangers. As has been pointed out, there are very
few comprehensive filk books anymore. Friends of Filk does have a copy
machine so that people can start building their own books if they desire.
- We vote for (in order of preference) bardic, poker chip, modified
poker chip. We detest chaos unanimously - everybody else we've talked to
hates chaos.
- Signs on the doors would be useful - People READING the program
books and/or signs on the doors would be even more useful.
- Just a question - what's the difference between an online zine and
what we're doing right now???
- Maura, sweetheart, what happened to the rest of your post? - Lea :)
reply
- Should we get t-shirts or buttons that say "neo-filker friendly"? :)
Happy Filking!
