Hi, folks. You know, I've been watching the e-mail traffic come by, and I must say it's pretty interesting to see a new con taking shape in a couple of days! :-) I don't think I could take on large responsibilities, but I'd be willing to take on something of limited scope... The program book, maybe? Also, I had an idea; most cons have an art show, but I don't know how many artists would be willing to bring stuff to a filk con, which they might consider a pretty small audience, pre-selected for interest in something other than the visual arts... Perhaps instead of, or in addition to, the art show, we could have some sort of music equivalent? Perhaps a room with a bunch of cassette/CD players with earphones so that people could wander around and listen to different filk tapes/CDs so they could get some idea of what's out there, what new releases are available, what kind of music a particular group plays, etc. Maybe we could even get different filk artists/groups to put together special Con tapes (maybe just a song or two, maybe a whole tape, the way artists sometimes bring several paintings) to showcase their new stuff. This would enable a filk artist who couldn't be present to still exhibit, as it were. If anyone's interested, I'd be happy to exhibit a few songs of my own, though of course I plan to attend also! :-) Yours--Cat Faber P.S. I'd like to give a concert at such a con (hint, hint)...
