Hi-

replyOkay, so here's my two cents' worth on the campground idea. It's difficult to pull off if you have valuable instruments you'd like to take to a filk. But when we did the filk relaxacon in Denver (the one year we did it) we found a large cabin with cabins around it--one of the cheaper, privately owned resorts. We found this to be less expensive than a hotel.

On the whole, I think the best thing to do is begin holding house filks on a regular basis, so that people know there's an active filk scene here. Once we've built up momentum, we can start thinking about a very small con--say one that emphasizes songwriting filk publishing and general nattering rather than one that emphasizes performance. If that takes off,it can grow as it will.

I also need to get some more students at ehe U involved. I know there are filkers here, I've talked to at least five. So I'll try to track them down and get enough of them together to start a student organiztion, which would give access to even better meeting places on campus than the ones I have access to among the test tubes.

i'll let you know what's going on.
