The long promised "Star Wars" filk

                        __TWINS__ [Words & music by Larry Warner, (c) 1989 Thor Records. On the album "Through My Eyes". This song has a lot of complex tempo and intensity/volume changes which I'm not able to represent here; but the lyrics below will at least give you a sense of the story. (Which for those of you who aren't die-hard "Star Wars" fans is the experience of Obi-Wan Kenobi in segment 3 of that saga, due to be released in the theaters around 2003..)]

A warrior of evil,

        bearing features I know well;
With glowing saber, piercing eyes,

        a mindset like a spell.
A will that can't be shaken,

        watching , waiting silently;
I know his every thought,

        for he's a du--plicate . . . of me.

The dark side is his ally,

        but my power's just as strong.
The Empire wants to kill me now,

        for Knights have ruled too long.
A last thorn in their side,

        they plan to now extinguish me.
And this genetic clone of theirs,

        moves si--lent . . . cunningly.

Infant twins are hidden

        in a shuttle down below.
The last hope for our future,

        needing time to learn and grow.
But trapped beneath this stairwell,

        trying hard not to be heard;
I lie waiting for their death tool,

        and the cha--nce . . .to still his work.

I sense him in the darkness,

        sense his presence drawing near.
I spring forth from this alcove,

        burning saber set to spear.
With surprise as my advantage,

        and the Force within me still;
My blow strikes out in justice,

        He falls hard . . . his blood is spilled --.

(slow, sad)

As I looked down upon his face,

        I slowly knelt and cried;
Though just a mirror image,

        something deep within me died.
(pick it back up)

Now I must find a haven,

        then I'll separate each twin.
I'll leave this day behind me,

        hoping Kni--ghts . . . will rule again. And the nightmare will end --,

        someday ----- (hold and then rise at end)   Received on 03/06/97
