For those of you who are planning to attend this convention,
but who didn't receive Progress Report 4, I'm attaching a couple
of brief articles you may be interested in.

ObFilk = The Pocket Program goes to the Printer tomorrow, and
then I have a bit more mail to catch up on. However, hopefully
sometime next week, I'll post an updated rundown on Music
Programming at Westercon 50. Please let me know if you have
any questions in the meanwhile. Thanks!

I know many of you are very curious about JMS's presence at
Westercon 50 in Seattle. To give you the brief rundown here:

JMS will be doing 2 "Babylon 5" presentations. One Friday
from 1-3pm, the other Sat from 11am-1pm. The room will open
for seating 2 hours in advance, and you can save one seat
for a friend until 15 min before the show; some space will
also be set aside for Volunteers and the disabled. Friday
attendees will have their badges punched so we can be sure
everyone has a chance to get in for one show before anyone
attends the second. (Each show will seat about 800 people,
and our estimated attendance is a little over 2000; so this
will take care of 80% of our population, a higher ratio than
many other conventions.) JMS has said he'll present the same
material at both shows, but the audience questions will of
	course vary.

JMS will also be speaking on a variety of other panels
throughout the entire weekend: everything from the television
industry to "Female Protagonsists in SF Literature" to "The
Dumbing of America". He will also be appearing at Opening
Ceremonies and other related GOH functions; and will be signing
autographs Fri at 4pm and Sat at 2pm. (These are scheduled
for 1 hour blocks, but he may choose to stay if there are still
people waiting.) Finally, he will be conducting a 2 hour
Scriptwriting Seminar on Saturday evening. (See separate
article, preregistration required.) His schedule, and those
of all of our other very talented guests, will be posted
within the next week or two on the Westercon website.

Westercon 50 is being held at the Seattle Sheraton July 3-6.
Rates are $55 for the weekend until June 12th, $60 at the door.
More information is available via <www.isomedia.com/westercon/>
or <wester50 at isomedia.com> or PO Box 283; Seattle, WA 98111.

We hope to see you there!

If you are planning to attend Westercon 50 in Seattle, WA, and
are curious about pursuing a hobby/career as television or film
scriptwriter, you may be interested in the following event:

	J. Michael Straczynski will be presenting a 2 hour seminar
on scriptwriting on Saturday evening (July 5th) from 7-9pm.
(Note this is opposite the Masquerade.) He CANNOT examine
individual submissions during this time, but he has offered
to talk about the industry and what he has (and has not)
found works for writers. This will be a valuable opportunity
to ask questions and hear the insights of one of today's
leading figures in the science fiction television field.

While no prior writing credentials are required to participate
in this Seminar; seating will be limited to 40 people, and you
MUST PRE-REGISTER. (You must also be a member of Westercon 50
to attend.) Please send a note with your legal name indicating
your interest to Westercon 50; PO Box 283; Seattle, WA 98111.
Attn: Linda Deneroff, Scriptwriting Seminar. (If you have
questions you can reach her at <lindad at isomedia.com> or me at
<quarong at eskimo.com>; but your request to participate must be
	sent "snail-mail".)
