Well, I'll throw in my two cents here.
I'd go with the wrath of god. It's a) a real card, and one that most
players can relate to. This is to me part of what makes filk, books,
etc enjoyable. The ability to allow the listeners to understand the point
of view of the characters, or the subject being discussed because they
have some experience with it (or with something similar enough that
comparisons are readily drawn). The twists are the unique elements that
set one situation off from another. To me, good fantasy, sci-fi, filk,
drama, what have you takes a common situation and throws unique characters
into it. Seeing it through their eyes reveals the humour, tragedy, sorrow,
and other emotions that make us human.
