replyThis song debuted last week at one of The House of the Golden Note's wonderful monthly song circles. Cat was among those who were there and approved.

replyAnd yes, the Wednesday in April song is also one of Cat's...and yes, everything in the song is absolutely true. Would I lie to you?

OSE
Lyrics by Andrew Ross
ttto: OOPS (Cat Faber)

Our song circle hadn't been going too long We were all having fun simply being alive When someone announced that she had a new song Of a Wednesday in April, 1995
She lowered her voice and began to intone Of the deaths from a blast that was caused by McVeigh Rebar and concrete their coffin and stone And that's the first time I heard somebody say...

CHORUS: Ose! Ose! And more ose your urges

Extravagant dirges that ring in your ears
Oh well, you can't be too picky
Ose can be sticky, and apt to bring tears!

I went to Sam Bond's on an "Irish Jam" day The beer and the music were just a bit bland So to liven things up, I decided to play A song by Kanefsky called "No Moggy's Land" It tells of a cat that's run over and dead I thought it was funny, but something was wrong The audience blinked, and then somebody said, (deep sigh)
"Another nice sensitive roadkill-type song!"

CHORUS When a song knocked us flat like a barrel of bricks And depression spread over our group like a pall Then someone reached into her songbook of tricks And came to the rescue by finding Fred Small We joined in the chorus of "I Will Stand Fast" A song full of comfort and courage that cares It brought us back safe in the daylight at last And if someone said, "ose", the mistake must be theirs!

CHORUS Received on 10/29/97
