Note: Tickets for many events at the Tractor Tavern are available through Ticketmaster, and at Galway Traders and Dusty Strings.

Fri Jan 23 7pm = The Rashers give a free concert at Crossroads Shopping Center in Bellevue. (Crossroads has open mike sessions and free concerts a couple of nights every week, all of it folk and jazz related music. Have dinner at the food court, sit back, and enjoy.) (Traditional Irish)

Sat Jan 24 9pm or so = Suffering Gaels play at Conor Bryne's Pub in Ballard. (Traditional Irish)

Sat Jan 24 = Telynor plays at the Fiddler's Inn in Wedgewood (206) 525-0752. (Early European & Rennaissance music)

Sun Jan 25 7pm = Randal Bays, a fiddler and guitar player, holds a cd release concert at 4214 Fremont Ave N, Seattle (206) 633-4057. $10, adv tickets avail.

Sat Jan 31 3 & 8pm = The Pipes and Drums of the Black Watch and the Regimental Band of the The Royal Scots Guards will perform at the Mercer Arena at the Seattle Center. Not only pipers and drummers, but ceili and Highlands dancers, and a solo singer. Tickets through Ticketmaster $18.50-$35. --- Note: As some members of this group have served in the military in British activities in Northren Ireland, the local chapter of the Irish Northren Aid society does intend to stage a demonstration outside the arena. Please act as your conscience dictates in relation to this event.

Fri - Sun, Feb 13-15 = The West Coast Piper's Tionol (aka convention) will take place in Ballard. Focus is on the Irish uilleann pipes. Call Wally Charm at (206) 784-7353 or email at <ipc at wolfenet.com>.

Thur - Sat, Feb 19-22 = Celtic Spirituality Event at St Mark's Cathedral on Capitol Hill. There will be workshops, crafts, storytelling, lectures, concerts, and a ceili dance. Friday night concert will be by ethereal soprano Noirin Ni Riain. Saturday will be Irish American singer Connie Dover. The ceili follows, called by Kathleen O'Grady and music by the Simpletones. (These are the folks who normally do the Tractor Tavern ceilis.) Call 206-323-1040. This is an all ages event, and cost should be minimal, especially for the daytime events.

Sat Feb 21 = Paperboys, Wicked Celts, and Slainte play at the Wintergrass festival in Tacoma. (Paperboys are modern Celtic/Bluegrass rock, Wicked Celts are ecletic Celtic with a Scottish slant, and Slainte is fun.)

Sun Feb 22 = Connie Dover does an adult concert at the Tractor Tavern. Adv tickets available.

(Tractor Tavern = 5213 Ballard Avenue NW; Seattle. 206-789-3599. A great place with space to dance. 21 and over only however, and smoking is allowed.)

Tues Mar 10 = Celtic Fiddle Festival at the Tractor Tavern, with Kevin Burke, Johnny Cunningham, and Christian La Maitre. Separate shows at 6:30 & 9pm. Adv tix available.

Sun Mar 29, 8pm $12 = Dick Gaughan returns to the Tractor. A Scottish singer and guitar player, with a strong social conscience and a neat sense of humor. One of my favorites!
Adv tickets available.

Thur April 30 = The Chieftains will play at the Paramount Theater in Seattle. Call Ticketmaster soon for a show by one of the best known Celtic bands in modern times.

I think that's it for now. --- Quarong
