SONG: Walk the Mall

SONG: Walk the Mall

Finally! This flu has lifted and the creative spirit has returned. I actually started this months ago, after I had a bad day at work and drove to Northgate and then asked myself, "Just what am I doing here? What does this say about me?" Anyway, this bouncy, almost cloying song came out. :)

Walk the Mall
words and music by Jeffrey Hitchin

I've had a bad day, things have been rough at work. I need to go unwind, before I go bezerk. I need to go somewhere, someplace that I know well filled with lots of friendly people, who have lots of things to sell.

I'm going to walk the mall, like I did the week before. Wave at the guy at the pretzel stand, maybe shop the As Seen on TV store!

The girl at the ice cream counter smiles at me as I pass by. Now I might be way off base but I think she's giving me the eye. I don't know how she knows me. I guess she has her way. But it's a bit surprising, it's not like I'm here every day.

I'm going to walk the mall, like I did the week before Wave at the guy at the pretzel stand, maybe shop the new super bookstore.

[BRIDGE]
Every day - get up, go to work, go home - it's all the same. Sometimes you don't wanna go where everybody knows your name. Just go find a wide open space when the work week ends. And I have to admit the folks here are almost as good as friends!

Bought myself a couple of books, and now the food court to end the day. But before I hit the car, maybe one last trip through the Bon Marche. Throw my bags in the back of my car. This is what Friday is all about. I drive away a happy man as the lights in the parking lot go out.

So I went and walked the mall, now my life doesn't seem so bleak. I'm ready to face the world, but I'll see you all again next week.
