replyA friend and I went last night, and it was a lot of fun. I was really sorry that I bruised my foot the day before at the Paperboys show and couldn't dance to them, because what they played would have been great for replya ceili. Traditional style Irish, but almost entirely original compositions. 6 musicians: bouzuki, bodhran & uillean pipes, flute, fiddle, accordian, & guitar; all of them under the age of 25 from Southern replyIreland. They also had a gentleman providing periodic songs in English & Gaelic. A real high energy group, they were having fun, and that communicated clearly to the audience; even though their stage presence is still in need of some polishing in other respects.

I recommend checking them out if they do a show in your area, or if you have a chance to hear their album!

P.S. The only sort of downside to the show was when they went into a lively piece, and the words of a certain bard popped into my head: "Listen replyto the tagline on each pass of almost any hornpipe, and you'll find it will replyscan to the words 'oatmeal cookie and a catnip mouse.'" I'm never going to replybe able to listen to a hornpipe with a straight face again! :) [Don't ask replyabout the story behind this, it was a product of too many hours without sleep, and I don't remember much of the details.]

Until later,
