Orycon 20 Filk News

Orycon 20 Filk News

(1) If you're on the NW Filklist, please disregard this repeat of John Bunnell's message.

(2) For the rest of you, I've repeated some important Orycon Music news below. -- Michael Longcor is a fantastic guest! For those of you who have never seen him in person, you're in for a real treat! He was Music GOH at Orycon about 4 years ago, and not only is a talented performer, but an intelligent and entertaining speaker & storyteller as well. His music tends to fall into two main genres: Early American History (generally the Colonial era), and Mankind's future in space. He's also a long time SCA member, a Kipling fan, and covers a lot of other ground in between. I'm really excited we're going to have a chance to see him in the NW again. (Last I knew, he was living in Indiana.)

Until later,

                Quarong

>First, I am advised that the Friends of Filk GoH for Orycon 20 will be the
redoubtable Michael Longcor. This should be exciting....
>
>We are even now putting together programming surveys. I am making
something of a push to update the filk/music panels (not that what we've been doing isn't fun, but we've been doing essentially the same ones for quite awhile now). If you have thoughts on what sorts of filk/music panels you'd like to see (or participate in), mention them -- here on the list, or via E-mail to me directly -- NOW. (We are hoping to beat the questionnaire into shape sometime before midnight Friday.)
>
>I am also now definitely taking names of those of you interested in
>mini-concerts and the like. [I would still like to try out the
"performers' circle" concept too, space permitting -- put about three performers in one of the filk rooms for an hour and let them trade songs, basically. If this sounds like a Good Idea, and you're interested, tell me that too.]
>
>If you have not yet gotten your Orycon membership, now is a good time; we
are, as usual, running ahead of last year in membership totals, and I'm told that a horde of Lois McMaster Bujold fans over on AOL have announced their intent to register Real Soon Now.
>
>Thus endeth the sales pitch....
