CUNLA = A local group that plays fairly traditional Irish music with some good energy. Sat 8/29. Old Town Alehouse 5233 Ballard Avenue NW; Seattle. (This is a non-smoking pub a few doors north of the Tractor Tavern; food is served.)
CELTIC GROUPS AT BUMBERSHOOT = Sept 4-7, 1998. Seattle Center.
Last year tickets were $10 for one day, and a bit more for the entire
weekend. The entire schedule is available at 206-281-8111, or check the
Seattle Weekly or the daily paper next week.
MARITIME CONCERT SERIES = All shows are Sat 8-10pm on the historic 3 masted schooner Wawona at the south end of Lake Union. Tickets are $8 general; $5 kids, seniors, & members; proceeds to the musicians and the restoration project. 206-447-9800. Sept 18 is John Sparrow & Shifty Sailors. Oct 10th is Broadside & Morgan Segal. For maritime oriented music in between these shows, check out the Fiddler's Inn in the Wedgewood neighborhood of Seattle, where a lot of this type of local crowd hangs out. CAUPERCAILLE = A fantastic, lively, modern-ish Scottish group is returning to the Tractor on 9/22. I strongly recommed coming and checking them out! STAY TUNED = As soon as I have a bit of spare time <insert hysterical laughter here>, I'll update my complete Celtic Directory and repost it for all of your listening pleasure. In the meanwhile, call Galway Traders at 206-784-7343 for info on the "Celtic Calendar"; the Tractor Tavern's concertline 206-789-3599; or Dusty Strings 206-634-1656for even more info. Keep Dancing!
