By and large, no day-to-day changes should be seen due to this change by the members of the list. Some of the administrative commands have changed, but although Chuck and Maura are admins, I've been the only one to perform administrative functions for a while. The new mailing list software is written by myself and a friend, which means I'm much more likely to fix things that break/don't work right, and much more likely to be willing to add specific features that users request. Listar also brings a few nice features to the list though they are more of a 'behind the scenes' sort. One of the biggest 'user-visible' changes is the concept of 'user flags' Users under listar can (similar to ListSrv lists) set flags on themselves. For instance, if a user is going to be out of town for a week or so, they can set themselves VACATION instead of unsubscribing from the list, and while they are vacation, no mail sent to the list will be forwarded to them. If anyone is interested in what specific features Listar brings, please feel free to ask me privately, though I suspect most of you don't really care as long as it works :) --JT [-------------------------------------------------------------------------][ It's hard to seize the day when you must first grapple with the morning ] [-------------------------------------------------------------------------]Received on 01/05/99 This archive was generated by hypermail 2.2.0. |
