Re: House of the Golden Note invitation 6/26/99

The House of the Golden Note's monthly song circle will be on June 26th this month. We expect to have a few overnight guests from Coquille this time, so anyone else who would like to stay the night should please contact us ASAP to be sure there is space for you.

Also, the following Sunday, June 27, we (Andrew and Titania) are in charge of a "musical morning" at the Unitarian Universalist church at 40th and Donald in Eugene. We're hoping for the event to be not too different from our song circles. All musical friends are invited. The event starts at 10:00 A.M.

A couple of reminders: Our song circles welcome more than just filk music. Many people perform folk music, their own or otherwise. We've also had classical guitar music (thank you, Dave) and belly dancing (thank you, Julie) in recent months. If it seems like the bulk of the music is filk, it is because that is what you (and we) bring to it.

Also, I've heard some feedback that sometimes there is too much time spent talking and not enough singing. We are a diverse group. Some people come here looking for a place to chat and socialize between songs. Others want to get as much music in as possible. Please email me if you have feelings one way or another about this or any other issue. We would like to please as many of you as we can, and will moderate the circle according to the preferences of those who show up on any given night.  

    WHEN: Saturday, June 26, 7 PM until everyone leaves       

    AT: The House of the Golden Note, 178 Bushnell Ln, Eugene OR 97404

    DIRECTIONS: From either north or south bound I-5: take exit     195-B--Florence (also identified as Airport and/or Beltline Rd) west. Go     west to the "Northwest Expressway" exit. Turn off Beltline. When the exit     ramp reaches the Northwest Expressway, turn left (south). Proceed under     Beltline, then under the next overpass. Take the next left, which is the     Maxwell Street ramp. When you reach a T on Maxwell Street, turn right     (east). Immediately get in the left turn lane and make your first left     on Bushnell Lane. This is immediately before the "Community Market."     Proceed north on Bushnell for about eight to ten houses. 178 Bushnell     will be on your left. It is a white house with blue trim.      

    STYLE: Either Bardic or Moderated Chaos depending on the number and     preference of participants. We want everyone to have fun.

    NOTES:      

1. Some crash space available; call to reserve yours. Bring sleeping gear in case we run out of beds.
2. There are two fuzzy four-foots in the house.
3. The house is not childproof. Smalls welcome on good behavior.
4. Bring all of your usual filk stuff.
5. NO SMOKING.
6. There is a PC-clone computer available for archiving songs or printing out copies.
