New song

Despite my frequent protests that I don't do ose, some songs just beg to be written. The tune is currently in my head (mostly, anyway) and I've never been good with chords. I can probably be persuaded to sing it at OryCon this weekend.

Well...actually...you'd be hard-pressed to *stop* me from singing it at least once! <g>

Minor background note: this song is about a GURPS character I played fairly recently. Before he was a GURPS character, John "Walker" Greene was the POV character in a one page short story I wrote...although it didn't originally involve anything paranormal. Anybody wanting the short story (both versions of it, yet!) should email me privately. Feedback is always appreciated.

Hunting the Hunters
by Harlock

My life was free and easy, the future clear and bright, Until that day at Mario's, that unexpected fight. The day, it was St. Patrick's, and we were wearing green. My best friend, Ben, was killed for it: he was only seventeen. A guy came to our table, dressed head to toe in blue, He said "this is our turf now: green's out, and so are you." Then Ben, he shot his mouth off. The leader's face turned red. He turned into a werewolf and left Ben lying there dead.

(so now I'm)

Hunting the hunters, they're damn well gonna pay For what they did to Ben and me that godforsaken day.

The library had answers: with silver I could kill. The books said, too, that werewolves don't exist and never will. But I had seen one fighting, so I picked up a gun. Against that strength my only real chance was hit and run. I killed the leader one day, then, as my blood ran cold, I saw his whole gang changing to a tribe of werewolves bold. I found my girlfriend gutted, a message from the pack, A note left by the body said "desist in your attacks."

(so now I'm)

Hunting the hunters, they're damn well gonna pay For what they did to Jennifer that godforsaken day.

In time I brought the pack down, with luck, and skill, and speed. But it didn't heal the wounds inside, the ones that never bleed. My life was torn and broken, my future grim and dark, Until the lady came to me and struck a fateful spark. She said "Revenge is hollow. To live, you've got to serve. I'm hiring people right now and by God I like your nerve!"

(so now I'm)

Helping the helpless, they don't deserve to pay. So hunters better watch your backs, I'm hunting you some day.

(that's right I'm)

Helping the helpless, they don't deserve to pay. So hunters better watch your backs, I'm hunting you some day.
