Paperboys 1/1/00

They're going to be back on January 1st & 2nd, and Mary and I would like to get as many folks as possible to go to the show on Jan 1st. (It's a Saturday.) This is a really talented Celtic Rock / Bluegrass band, and they're well worth going to see.

It will be at the Tractor Tavern in Ballard. The opening act usually starts about 9:15pm, and then the Paperboys will be on stage from about 10:45 to 1:15am. For the show on Sat, the opening act will be a solo performance by Hanz Araki, a very skilled gentleman who used to play flute with the band.

[For those of you who haven't been there before: The Tractor is a bar, so it's a 21 & over show. They have been partially no-smoking at more & more of their shows lately, which is nice. (This means no smoking on the stage side of the place, and while it's not fool-proof, you don't really notice it either.) The address is 5213 Ballard Avenue NW 206-789-3599.]

Tickets were $10 the last show, although they've been as high as $12 in the past. Every gig for the past year has been sold out several days in advance, and I doubt this one is going to be any different. * I'll be in Ballard next week for a couple of shows, including Hanz Araki's CD release party at Conor's on the 16th. I'm willing to buy tickets for folks if you let me know by then. (You can pay me either at the Korsair gathering on the 17th, Shawn Marier's party on the 18th, or talk to me about a different plan.)
* If you want to get your own, the Tractor takes cash & checks M-F noon-4pm, and most evenings from 8pm-1:30am. You can also buy them with a credit card via www.ticketweb.com or 800-965-4827.

Let me know. I'm looking at this as a really fun way to further celebrate the arrival of the year 2000.
