A few concerts of note I wanted to tell you about:
March 31, Friday
Vance Gilbert, Grateful Bread, 8 pm, $8
One of the few African-Americans in the folk circuit, and he is one damn
fine performer. Besides being an excellent songwriter, he's hysterically
funny. "Country-Western Rap" is hilarious.
April 15, Saturday
The Fruitcake Follies, Benaroya Recital Hall, 8 pm, various prices
Join SMC in what was previously the "No-Talent Show." I will be
performing several numbers with the new sub-group of the chorus (tentatively
named "Polite Society" or "Captain Smartypants") in what promises to be a
fun evening of comedy. High on the camp factor, so be warned, this is NOT
for kids!
April 21, Friday
The Four Bitchin' Babes, Kirkland Performing Arts Center, 8 pm, $TBA
Hey, it's the babes! What's not to like? Debi Smith (who plays a wicked
bodhran), Sally Fingerett, Megon McDonough and Camille West. If you miss
this, you'll be sorry.
April 22, Saturday
Greg Greenway, Grateful Bread, 8 pm, $8
An excellent singer-songwriter. His latest album, "Mussolini's Head" is
one of the better folk albums I've heard in a while, especially the song
"Driving." http://www.greggreenway.com
