Harmony workshop at Orycon

reply    Last year, as I recall we had a panel for "You too can sing harmony!" but it was a panel discussion, not a workshop (most notable for Cat's pronouncement, "Oh, you did that on purpose! Okay, I feel better now."). There were a lot of people who showed up, more than any of us expected (which is gratifying in the extreme) and none of us had ever led a workshop before so it turned into panel discussion.

If a workshop was wanted at Orycon, I'd suggest finding a larger room than the ones we usually get, and do a workshop right. The one thing I'm getting out of being in the SMC small ensemble group now is the director has so many obnoxious harmony exercises, it boggles the mind (try holding an augmented sixth with someone and then simultaneously go up a half step and not go back to the perfect sixth, it's nigh on impossible).

reply    One thing that was done during a Consonance was a workshop in music theory. Does anybody think there'd be interest in doing this at Orycon?
