Lyricist faints dead away....

Some folk in the gallery may recall an announcement several months back to the effect of "Mars Needs Filk" (that is, that the Mars Society was holding a competition for anthems promoting the Society's aims).

Thanks to the muses and a willingly volunteered high-quality singing voice (the Society wanted a tape, and as most of you well know, my voice is at best of the "enthusiastic amateur" character), I submitted an entry. [Hi, Cat!]

Weeks passed.

Wednesday evening there was a message on my phone machine when I got home -- I need to play phone/cybertag to get hold of the fine print, but it looks as if I'm a finalist! (The song, "The Way to Mars", was my author pick for the Pegasus brainstorming page mentioned on the other rock of the night, so it can be looked at there -- and since it's filked from a church hymn, there are several MIDI versions of the music out on the Web, one of which is linked to the listing.)

This is Seriously Cool. I have no idea whether things will go anywhere from here, but it's still Seriously Cool.
