I don't have details on how it happened, but Niven tore something in his left knee about 6 PM Thursday. He had a wheelchair available to him, and used it at least a big chunk of Friday, because of this.

I found this out attending a panel he was on, early Friday afternoon. Steven Barnes was also supposed to be there, but didn't show - probably asleep, because he accompanied the Nivens to the hospital and they didn't get back to the hotel until about 2 AM. Received on 04/16/01
