Hello; replyIf anyone is interested, I did get good recordings of the filk circle at VikingCon, at least the first part of it. Mini-discs are an incredible to archive circle recordings; even in long play modes the sound quality is superb. This recording includes a lot of Leslie, and I'll probably be putting it all together and sending it to her (in shorter, downloadable chunks). I also go tthe entire concert on DAT, and that is also incredible. I'll be forearding that to Leslie as well, though I'll probably just burn her a couple of CD's of it. Thanks to all of you who made my trip to Viking Con possible, especially JT who drove me home at oh-dark-thirty Sunday morning! And while I'm at it--I'd like to hear people's thoughts on recording circles. We used to do it in Denver, with the absolute understanding that nothing would be released without the permission of the performer. Some people find microphones sitting in the center of the circle obtrusive, though a central placement gives the best sound. For my part, I like archiving circles because I can then retain all the priceless moments, insta-filks, neat harmonies, and generally wonderful things. I'd like to start recording the convention circles again, if people don't object. I don't often get to house filks, so it's only at conventions people would be seeing my gear. If anyone has hints about how to install expansion sound cards, I'd appreciate knowing how it's done, because then I can make MP3's of the stuff I have that people want (with the performer's permission) and we can share the fun. Anyway, take care! Anne Received on 08/21/01 This archive was generated by hypermail 2.2.0. |
