Hi

replyreplyThe reason I need a second sound card is that I currently have no way to download digital files directly as digital data, and am having trouble getting a continuous audio stream when I try to transfer them as analog data. My hope is that when I can download them as digital files, I'll easily be able to convert them to MP3's. Also, if you want to do any editing--like add effects such as reverb, mix tracks, ect. the stock sound card just isn't powerful enough.

And as far as my microphone goes, it is technically a double cardioid, which means that it picks up more in the forward direction than from behind itself. In practice, in a room as small as that one, it picks up from all directions about equally, and the people in the rear sound in the channel they would if you were facing them--so I sound in the left channel in Saturday's recording, and Leslie sounds in the right channel.
