Folklife and some other groups are sponsoring 3 concerts featuring a new work by Croation composer Tomislav Uhlik. Prices are $10-17 suggested donation. The quote from www.marysherhart.com/narodil says:

A 50-voice choir and 20-piece orchestra will present three concerts in the Pacific Northwest featuring a transcendent new work by Zagreb composer Tomislav Uhlik entitled, Narodil se Mladi Kralj, Unto Us a Young King is Born. A folk cantata in five movements for Croatian folk choir and orchestra, this piece sets traditional folk themes in a contemporary musical setting. The piece has the grandeur of the a Russian choir, the rhythmic complexity of Carl Orff's Carmina Burana and lyricism of Aaron Copland. The concert will also include the St. Cecilia Singers and the St. Gregory Choir which are two of St. James Cathedral's Youth Music Program ensembles, traditional children's seasonal rituals from Croatia, sacred solos by nationally recognized Croatian singer Binki Franulovic Spahi, processional of St. James' icon collection, a Croatian Christmas carol sing along and a processional by Vela Luka dancers with lanterns reminiscent of Adriatic villagers walking to church services.

The shows are at:

12/8 7:30pm at St. Mary's Church in Anacortes, WA.
12/9 2:30pm at Holy Rosary Cathedral in Vancouver, BC.
