Finally got home after a hellish bus ride down from Seattle (if I didn;t have that brand new MP#/CD player I would have gone nuts!), and a much better evening buying manga and watching shoujo anime (one of my favorite non-Sakura shows, Saint Tail), I manage to respond to the comments ont he housefilk. Overall it was a great experience, and I want to publiscly thank Kitt for having me over and putting me up for the night, and thank the group for encouragiong me throughout. More comments interspersed with Kitt's message.

Yes, that was a lovely and frightening song. I can easily imagine the maiden terrified out of her wits that she may indeed have gone much, MUCH too far....
> My daughter (age 2) dancing with a teddy bear to "Waltzing With Bears".
Yes, that was extremely cute.
> Tom Payne (after assuring us he was *not* performing due to guitar
A pity Tom didn;t bring a guitar, but he did say he was woefully out of practice. But he;s a fine talent and I'd love to hear him do some of his hits again.

I should add the sheer number of anime discussions/arguments/explanations between Dixon;s daughter, Chaos, Jeff Hitchin and myself. Jeff sounded like a critic at times, Steve found himself wondering just what was safe for his daughters to watch (hint -- avoid anything with the word "Overfiend" in the title), and I corrected names right and left. I think I did about six or seven different anime songs that I had written, and most of them had characters recognized. One of the highlights for me was Dixon singing my "Video Girl" for me in that dark, rich voice of his. Another was my getting in "Telling ToYa" in before Jeff left and getting his comments. The one thing I will remember about this filk was all the warmth and encouragement I got from my fellow artists and filkwriters. Even my singing was praised. I WILL record. I don;t know if I'll ever do a CD, but I WILL record!

Lisabeth was a major surprise for me too. Her guitar skills are formidable.
> "Knights in White Satin" -- 'nuff said.
Callie contributing her flute on that one was priceless as well.
> Jeff doing his song about "Tea For One". A wonderful song with a
I'm a sucker for sentimental songs about loss that end on a note of optimism (witness "Tomoyo's Christmas").. She sounded likee a formidable lady.
> The whole group spontaneously singing the mondegreens for "Stairway to
LOL!
GON sounds like a fascinating manga.
> The full ensemble singing "Misconception".
I'd have joined in if I'd remembered the real lyrics.
> Steve singing The Ose-est Song Ever, even though he doesn't like to
I appreciated it too. Singing that song took a lot of courage.

I would love to. come to your place again and sing. Hopefully next time I will have a lift up from Portland so I won't be so dependent on that walkman. Michael Hopcroft Received on 12/30/01 This archive was generated by hypermail 2.2.0. |
