Gentles, I don't know if any of you are in a position to care, but I and some of my colleagues are going to make a little history of Sunday, April 28. At 1:30pm that day, at the SeaTac Hilton, I will be hosting the first official known filking event at an anime con. Since we only have a 90-minute time slot it will be more like a concert than an actual filking, which is also exciting in its own way since it will be my first concert. I've been praparing my material, which will be combined with material from the other artists there. Mevima Winn, for example, will be bringing her violin and performing her new song "Nagumo Yo!" (which is, of course, Japanese for "Calm Down!" and is based around the Kathy Mar classic). I'll be doing several of my signature anime songs and some new ones as well. If this works I'd like to try the act out at other filking events and possibly even record. Now most of you probably think my recording is a bad idea akin to some of the All-Time Bad Ideas at best, and postively Shatnerish at worst. Can I help it, though, if I think I've got some good songs and have attracted some talented people who can really help? Pre-registration is closed for SakuraCon, but full and one-day memberships will be available at the door. For more information, and to see the proof that I'm not talking through my hat, check out www.sakuracon.org for the event schedule.
