[filk] Don't forget! The Washingtonians sing this weekend for your pleasure

The Washingtonians (the choir with a sense of humor) is performing this weekend at the Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue, and if you have the time and inclination, consider going to see our show. I'm a first tenor in the Washingtonians and we'll be doing a funny show that lampoons choir competition shows.

We're also holding a raffle at the show for a week in a seaside Mexican bungalow including the airfare. If you want more info on the prize, let me know. Raffle tickets are $1. We will also serve cookies during intermission. Some of the acts in this concert have to be seen to be believed. "Angel's Overbite", "The Don Shirley-Quirk Singers" and "The Upbeats" are particularly amusing.

I've included the press release below. Since a lot of us like funny filk, this is almost a funny filk choral show.

CAN'T STOP THE SINGIN'! - THE WASHINGTONIANS SPRING CONCERT - 2002! Directed by Stephen Terrell

Imagine taking a 100 voice choir, breaking it up into 14 small groups, then pitting them against each other in a choral contest where the audience decides the winner!

Join the Washingtonians as they become the first annual 'Scrapple County Jr. College and Vocational/Technical Institute Choral Contest". You'll be bowled over by this community of mid-state swing choirs, jazz choirs, quartets, trios and small ensembles. Witness the showdown between the longtime rival groups "Jazzaluia!" and "Singabration!". Cheer for "Angel's Overbite", the all-girl group from Holy Heart Academy for Orthodontic and Oral Maxillo-facial surgery. You won't want to miss the thrilling sounds of the large 'combined choir' and you'll be shocked at the depths to which some participants will stoop to win the coveted Golden Scrapple Pan. Join the Washingtonians as they portray 14 small ensembles from a fictitious county somewhere in the State of Washington. Plenty of funny music, funny situations, funny costumes and the wonderful Kit Harris and David Koch as Fluff and Don LeQwape, your hosts for the evening. Also featuring Kelly Wright, Eric Chappelle and Mrs. Wilke, of course!
