The long ago mentioned *Outdoor* housefilk, dubbed *Outhouse In The Woods* housefilk is in the planning stages. We live in *Birch Bay*, which is 4 miles off of I-5 approxiamately 2 hours north of Seattle. replyI am asking for preferred dates in late August thru mid September for a possible date. I had originally been going to do it on Aug 24th, since that replyreplyis the day after my birthday, but Callie suggested I ask the list first <she replyreplyhas plans that weekend> so we get everyone's input. Just so you all know, doing this is my birthday present to myself...*Smiles*
replyreplyI am thinking a midday thru whatever time, timeframe, on a Saturday. Our
neighbors for the most part are a nice lot and should not have a problem,
with us, since we asked a while back and no one objected. We plan on having
replyreplyMexican/American fare food wise...tacos, burritos and taco
salads. Kind of the *Build it yourself from the crockpot/cold plates* so
that folks can nibble as they are hungry. With lots of fruits and veggies,
replyalong with crackers, chips...oh, and Chocolate...mustn't forget that.
Vegatarian fare will also be offered. We also have a small tabletop
gasgrill for hotdogs and burgers. Speaking of which...what are preferred
drinks? I can easily have
Here is the basic info on our house, and the local area.
HOUSE:
We have a covered, pretty well screened in, deck 10 x 28 at the rear of the replyhouse. It stays pretty comfortable out there, well into the evening, and the bugs are at a minimum with the screening. We have a small bathroom, but replyreplyI can manage with no problem, so I don't think anyone alse would have trouble. If the weather is really nice, we may want to use the front yard as well. It is pretty level and fairly well shaded almost all day. We also live on a dead end, so parking would be fairly flexible and our neighbors will be ok with any overflow I am sure. We do it for them <G>
We do have 3 dogs, a lab, and two Pomeranians. None of them bite, but they
replyreplyare noisy when folks arrive and leave. We also have 3 cats. ALL of the
critters will be in the bedrooms for the duration of the filk. We also will
replyreplygo to __**GREAT PAINS**__ to clean and *De-critterize* the house for those
who area
We live approximately 2 blocks from a lovely tidal bay, which offers nice swimming, and is just fun to wander in. When the tide is out you can walk out about 3/4 of a mile toward the Puget Sound, and if we are REALLY Lucky, replyreplywe may spot some Orcas, or Dolphins <Porpoises> as they frequent the area. There is local crabbing<cheap for a license> and clamming <Seasons allowing> replyreplyOh another nearby fun thing to do...we live about a mile from the local watering hole....Birch Bay Water Slides <G> It is a whole lot of fun, though cost is about $14 per person. We have enough space on our lot for about 3-4 largish tents and would gladly replyreplyallow someone to pitch a tent to crash out it. :o) We also have a futon, but must warn, with the critters, crash space inside, can only be to animal replyreplyoverly friendly folks <G> All that having been said...does anyone really want to chance coming to a Teeny-Tiny Outhouse in the Woods for an outdoor filk? If so, what dates are preferred, and in order of preference? Any other concerns I should address? Ask away!
Blessings and Hugs,
